Vinted Members Voice Frustration Regarding Sizing Updates
Vinted users have been reacting angrily following a change that caused listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The second-hand shopping app has altered its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes without notifying every member regarding the update.
Digital Channels Backlash
Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online stating that platform listings now display a different size category versus the original listing as a result of the reclassification.
Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces.
They have suggested members to review their products and adjust the sizing manually when needed, resulting in member annoyance.
Sizing System Changes
Before the change, the measurements included numerical and alphabetical indicators, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the size labels have been reassigned - such as a large size was previously a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
Shopper Accounts
A fashion influencer, who creates plus-size fashion videos, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed with size 14 tags were showing in the marketplace as larger sizing 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she said.
Required Changes
Another shopper, located in England, explained she became annoyed due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizing for "all her products".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she explained.
Marketplace Information
The app has more than 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK.
It has become a favored option to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time where an unanticipated change within the service has received backlash: previously, the platform withdrew an update regarding delivery choices following member complaints.
